Free versus Pro: what each one includes

5 min read

There is one plugin, not two. The Pro features ship inside the free download and are switched on by a licence, so there is nothing extra to install and nothing to keep in step with anything. This page is the plain list of what each one does.

What the free version builds #

The free version is not a trial and not a demo. It builds and publishes a finished card, today, with no time limit:

  • Three cards.
  • Three social links per card.
  • Every layout — vertical and horizontal.
  • All 72 colour presets and the five-question style generator.
  • Any number of custom link, email, embed and divider blocks.
  • Layout, width, shadow, shape, spacing, header style and header alignment.
  • A link in bio page with its own address, its own SEO title and description, its own social media image, its share button and its optimised loading.
  • A popup across the whole site, appearing immediately, with a URL blocklist and a maximum appearance count.
  • An inline card at the top or bottom of your posts, and below the price on a product.
  • The shortcode, the block and the Elementor widget.
  • Per-block scheduling — the appearance and disappearance windows.
  • The icon picker with about 140 built-in icons.

NoteWhat is deliberately absent: no badge or credit under the buttons unless you switch it on, no cookies, and no analytics of any kind.

What Pro adds #

Pro adds the parts that scale and measure.

More of everything #

FeatureFreePro
Cards3Unlimited cards, and unlimited bio pages
Social links per card3As many as you need

Card analytics PRO #

The whole Analytics screen: views and clicks, which button gets pressed, where readers came from grouped into direct, search, social, AI answers and other websites, campaign tracking, devices, hour of the day and day of the week. The free version collects nothing at all, so there is nothing to disclose.

See Card analytics.

Precise popup targeting PRO #

The free popup can appear across the whole site, open immediately, and be hidden from URLs you list. Pro adds:

  • Where — posts only, WooCommerce products only, or a list of specific URLs.
  • When — after a timeout of up to an hour, or once the reader has scrolled a set distance.
  • How often — an appearance cap, and how long the count is remembered.

The contact card PRO #

A round button in the corner of the card that hands the visitor a contact file they can save to their phone, plus a contact card block you can place anywhere. See The Save contact panel.

Six messaging buttons PRO #

WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, Signal, iMessage and SMS, each opening a conversation with a message already written in it. See The messaging blocks.

The Shortcode block PRO #

Run any shortcode from your site inside a card, folded behind a button or shown inline.

The two WooCommerce blocks PRO #

A product with its live price, picture and add-to-cart button, and a coupon readers can copy to the clipboard. See The WooCommerce blocks.

Your own icons PRO #

Upload an SVG and it appears in the icon picker alongside the built-in ones, follows the button’s colour like the rest, and can be reused across every card. Uploaded SVGs are sanitised before they are stored: scripts, event handlers and embedded objects are stripped, and hard-coded colours are rewritten to follow the button colour. Files up to 200 KB.

Your own colours, backgrounds, borders and fonts PRO #

FeatureWhat it opens up
Advanced button stylingChoosing Advanced for the social links or custom blocks, which reveals layout, alignment, content, design, colours and shape.
Your own coloursThe accent, card, text and button colour pickers. In the free version colours come from a preset or from the generator.
Background imagesA photograph behind the card, the header or the page, with size, position and repeat controls.
BordersA border on the card, on any one side, in any colour and width.
Header backgroundGiving the header its own colour, gradient or image, separate from the card.
Your own fontsThe whole Typography panel: the typeface, size and weight for the name, the tagline, the bio and the buttons, from your theme’s fonts, from Google Fonts, or from a font name you type.

How the locked controls look #

Every Pro control is on screen. Nothing is hidden. A locked control is dimmed, carries a small Pro badge, and a lock icon or a note tells you which feature it belongs to. Where a whole panel is Pro, like Typography, the panel header carries the badge and the panel is dimmed as a unit, because a panel full of dead boxes reads as a failure rather than an offer.

Below the list of block buttons there is one sentence naming the locked block types, rather than ten identical notes stacked under ten buttons.

What happens if a subscription lapses #

This is the part worth reading before you buy anything.

Nobody who downgrades loses anything. A card that was built with Pro features keeps rendering them, keeps its stored values, and shows them greyed with the badge. Only reaching past a limit is refused.

  • Locked controls that already have a value still render that value. A greyed toggle showing on is the honest picture of a downgraded site; unchecking it would imply the setting had been lost when it had not.
  • A card with more than three social links keeps every one of them. The limit stops you adding a fourth; it never removes one.
  • Cards already collected by analytics are kept exactly as long as they were going to be.
  • The Delete collected data panel stays available, whatever your plan.

And if you had Pro before and your licence is still with you, activate it from the link at the top of the Analytics screen and everything comes straight back.

What deleting the plugin takes with it #

Worth knowing before you click Delete rather than Deactivate on the Plugins screen — the plugin does not ask you twice.

Use Deactivate if you are only switching it off or trying another plugin. Deactivating hides the cards and keeps all of them, and activating again brings the whole studio back exactly as it was.

Delete removes every card and all of its settings, any icons you uploaded, and the plugin’s own settings, immediately, with no second confirmation. The one exception is your analytics tables, which are kept even on Delete, because deleting a plugin to try something else should not cost you your visitor history. If you would rather they went, use Turn analytics off and delete its tables on the Analytics screen first.

Deleting a single card from inside the plugin does ask first, which is the only place the question is asked twice.

More on this in Troubleshooting and FAQ.

The honest summary #

The free version makes a card, a bio page and a simple popup, properly, without a badge on it or a cookie behind it. Pro is for people who have more than one card, more than three links, more than one thing to measure, or a brand they need the colours and fonts to match.

TipTry the wizard before deciding either way. Generate My Card will build you a finished card on the free version in about a minute, and the result is a real card rather than a demo.
